Box Office: "Texas Chainsaw" on Course to Massacre the Competition

Moving in to a new year, "Texas Chainsaw 3D" is on track to take first place at the box office for the weekend of January 4-6, 2013.
The John Luessenhop directed horror film had a Friday take of $10.2 million and looks to be headed for a $21 million debut weekend in theaters.

Landing in the second spot is the Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted "Django Unchained." Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the action thriller cashed in at $6.2 million on Friday and is headed toward a $19.5 million sophomore run.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in pegged earnings are the previously dominant "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" ($5.2 million) in third, followed by the musical "Les Miserables" ($5 million) in fourth and the family comedy "Parental Guidance" ($3.1 million) in fifth.
