Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey stays at number one on New Year’s Day, raking in $9.5 million.
Domestically, the film has made approximately $238.1 million to date domestically and around $470 million overseas, according to THR.

Following close behind at number two was Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Django Unchained, which pulled in $9.2 million.
Anne Hathaway‘s Les Miserables grossed $7.6 million on Tuesday for a North American total of $80.6 million
Parental Guidance racked in $4.7 million on New Year’s Day to place fourth, while Tom Cruise‘s Jack Reacher rounded out the top five with $4.3 million.
