She’s still months away from giving birth, and Kate Middleton just found out that if she has a girl the little Royal will be honored with the title “Princess.”
During her 31st birthday celebration yesterday (January 9), the Duchess of Cambridge learned that Queen Elizabeth II changed a decree that previously prevented female offspring from bearing the moniker. Instead they were called “Lady.”
The announcement stated, “The Queen has been
pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 31
December 2012 to declare that all the children of the eldest son of the
Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style, title and attribute of
royal highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed
to their Christian names or with such other titles of honor.”
However, Kate and her husband Prince William have not yet announced whether they’re having a boy or a girl, so they may also have a Prince on their hands!
