In response to photos of Justin Bieber's alleged marijuana use, pranksters posing as fans started an online campaign that resulted in true fans harming themselves.
On Monday (January 7) #CutForBieber and #CuttingForBieber were trending on Twitter as loyal fans took the hoax seriously and posted pictures of slashed wrists.
The pranksters posted messages pleading with Bieber to stop smoking marijuana, as well as pictures of blades and blood.
While Bieber has not commented on the horrible hoax, fellow star Miley Cyrus tweeted “#cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.”
