“Les Miserables” Tops $58 Million Worldwide

Consistent with industry expectations, “Les Miserables” has been raking in some serious box office numbers since its theatrical release on Christmas Day.
The Hugh Jackman-starring musical film adaptation of the Broadway classic netted total ticket sales of $58.6 million in the past two days, including $28.3 million internationally and $30.3 in the States.

Meanwhile, Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” nabbed $22.6 million on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 25-26)domestically to bring its grand total to $512 million the world over.
And “Django Unchained,” the controversial Quentin Tarantino project, made $25 million since Tuesday’s release, with Sony looking to release it internationally.
Rounding out the top ten films this holiday season are “Parental Guidance,” “Jack Reacher,” “This is 40,” “Lincoln,” “The Guilt Trip,” “Monsters Inc 3D,” and “Rise of the Guardians.”
