Rehashing: Nicki recounted how she thought fellow American Idol judge Mariah didn't want her on the panel

On Tuesday (January 15), Nicki Minaj sat down with former “American Idol” judge Ellen DeGeneres and chatted about the infamous feud with Mariah Carey.
According to the “Superbass” singer, tension formed between the two female vocalists from the very beginning.

“I just kind of overcompensated by being crazier,” Nicki said. “If you know somebody maybe doesn’t like you, now you’re going to really go in… it’s like a defense mechanism, it’s really that your feelings are hurt, and you can’t believe, so you just compensate by being crazy.”
Although the pair didn’t get off on the right foot, the 30-year-old assured Ellen that everything is fine and she’s excited for the premiere of “Idol.”
“I cannot hold a grudge against Mariah Carey,” Miss Minaj explained. “I’ve looked up to her for so many years.”
DeGeneres asked Nicki about getting ready for the live shows in which she replied, “I’m not looking forward to live shows… I cannot trust myself. If there’s a comment being made… I don’t want to look like a crazy psycho again.”
