Moviegoers were out in full force on Christmas Day, giving two films, Les Miserables and Django Unchained, huge openings, breaking box office records!
Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman‘s Les Miserables, which brought in $18.2 million, placing number one, scored the top opening day for a musical, as well as the biggest weekday Christmas Day opening of all time, according to THR!
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx‘s Django Unchained came in at number two with $15 million, nabbed the honor of top R-rated Christmas Day opening of a film.
Coming in at number three was this past weekend’s number one, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which raked in $11.3 million.
Rounding out the top five were Parental Guidance and Jack Reacher, which earned $6.4 million and $5.3 million, respectively.
