After finally announcing split from husband Jason Hoppy, Bethenny Frankel is said to have approached Katie Holmes at a party and asked her: 'Give me the name of your divorce lawyer.'
Sources said the former Real Housewives star had 'one too many' at Bravo boss Andy Cohen’s holiday bash in his Manhattan apartment a few days before Christmas.
A source told the NY Post: 'Bethenny seemed a bit drunk and made a beeline for Katie Holmes and abruptly asked her, "I need a good divorce lawyer, can I have yours?"'
The mole added: 'Katie looked very taken aback, but was polite. She smiled and told Bethenny the name of her lawyer.'
According to the report, Cohen’s guests, many of them TV VIPs including Kelly Ripa, all heard the audacious remark.
However, another source insisted: 'This isn’t true. She hired someone before that party.'
Holmes, 34, blindsided Tom Cruise, 50, with her divorce filing in late July and her divorce lawyer, Jonathan Wolfe, helped her secure a quick settlement less than two weeks after filing.
She's reported to be looking at $4.8 million pay out over the next 12 years.
Frankel, 42, announced her separation from Hoppy, her husband of 2 and a half years and father of her two-year-old daughter Bryn, on December 23.
She said in a statement: 'We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter, who is and will always remain our first priority.
Frankel and Hoppy were married in 2010 and have a daughter, Bryn, who was born that same year.
The couple's courtship and marriage were documented in two reality series, Bethenny Getting Married? and Bethenny Ever After...
She has often spoken out about the state of her marriage and admitted to having problems with Hoppy.
Back in June, Frankel said that she had saved her marriage after it hit 'rock bottom' in their second year of married life. She told People magazine at the time: 'It doesn't come easy for us. Sometimes you feel like, ''Oh God, are we going to make it?"'
Frankel gained fame as a star of The Real Housewives of New York City.
Since her stint on the Bravo show, she has written four books, released a fitness video and founded her Skinnygirl line of cocktails, shapewear and nutritional supplements.
She launched a talk show, Bethenny, over the summer that is set to air nationally on Fox stations in 2013.
